Age-related difficulties such as coping with retirement, declining
health, the loss of a loved one, depression, or simply feeling lonely
are common
problems that many older adults experience. Sometimes these struggles
can lead to increased use of alcohol or other drugs. At the Older Adult
Recovery Center (OARC), we specialize in helping older adults who may
be concerned about their use of alcohol, addictive medications, or
other drugs.
Heavy use of alcohol or addictive pills can start anytime
in life, including our later years, and can lead to personality and
mood changes,
family
problems, and health concerns. Sometimes heavy use can lead to dependency,
which can be particularly devastating for older adults who are more
fragile and less tolerant of these chemicals. For older adults, getting
help
can often make a big difference for themselves and their families.
