EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED

                                               

Port Huron, MI… St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron (SJMPH) is pleased to announce the appointment of two key executive positions.

Joining the hospital’s Executive Leadership team in May 2013 is Janet Herbert, RN, who will serve as Vice President of Operations; and Daniel (Dan) Kilbourne, who will serve as Vice President of Human Resources.

Herbert joins the team with extensive experience in hospital operations and a broad scope of leadership skills. Janet received her nursing degree from St. Clair County Community College; her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Michigan; and her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Baker College. She actually began her healthcare career at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in 1981, serving as a nurse on the surgical unit until 1989, when she left after attaining the level of clinical leader (charge nurse) on the telemetry unit.

Herbert then spent much of her career in Thumb area healthcare organizations, including: McKenzie Memorial Hospital, Cass City Area Agency on Aging, and Harbor Beach Hospital. She has most recently served as Vice President of Operations and Human Resources at McKenzie Health System, in Sandusky, MI.

“Janet brings incredible depth of understanding and oversight of the successful implementation of a number of operations-based programs and services,” explains Rebekah (Becky) Smith, RN, President and CEO of St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron. “She also is astute at working directly with hospital boards, physicians and clinical staff; including solid experience with strategic and business planning.” Before being named President and CEO, Smith served in the Vice President of Operations role at St. Joseph Mercy.

Kilbourne joins the SJMPH Executive team with a dedicated commitment to leading the organization’s human resources and talent effectiveness activities and responsibilities. He received an Associate Degree in Human Resources Management and a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration both from Baker College, Flint, MI. He is currently enrolled in the Master of Science in Human Resources Administration program at Central Michigan University.

“Dan most recently served as Director of Human Resources and Labor Relations for All Star Services, Inc., Port Huron,” explains Smith, “establishing strategic business partnerships, contract negotiations, instituting enhanced performance management, arbitration, progressive discipline, employee compensation and other successful programs.”

Kibourne is replacing Rob Gunn who will retire as St. Joseph Mercy Vice President of Human Resources and Foundation effective May 28, 2013. Stephanie Armstrong-Helton, who currently serves as Marketing and Community Relations Director will also assume the role St. Joseph Mercy Foundation Director.

“I want to take a moment to thank Rob Gunn for his outstanding service and commitment to our organization. He will be greatly missed,” concludes Smith. “At the same time, I would also like to warmly welcome both Janet and Dan to the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Executive Leadership team.
