Mercy Regional Cancer Center Hosts a Remarkable Salute to Breast Cancer Awareness
MERCY REGIONAL CANCER CENTER HOSTS A
REMARKABLE SALUTE TO BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
Port Huron, MI... October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron and the Mercy Regional Cancer Center invites women to have a better understanding of breast cancer risk, screening and treatment. A number of events are planned to support women as they work to maintain proper breast health. Join the Mercy Regional Cancer Center for any of the following:
Breast Cancer Support Group – Monday, OCT. 1
Breast Cancer Support Group will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., in the First Floor Conference Room of St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, featuring special guest speakers: Homeira McDonald, MD, and Kimberely Clark-Paul, MD. For more details, call 810-985-1871.
Pink Hair for Hope – Thursdays, OCT. 4 & OCT. 11
Pink hair extensions will be provided by hair stylist Rosemary Arnold, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the St. Joseph Mercy Baggot Street Café. For a $10 donation you can help to benefit the Mercy Pink Ribbon Fund.
FREE Breast Cancer Survivor Luncheon – Saturday, OCT. 6
Join the Mercy Regional Cancer Center for its annual FREE Breast Cancer Survivor Luncheon. Enjoy an inspirational discussion presented by Nora Neruda-Condland, who will discuss how her breast cancer experience has led her to open herself up to new opportunities in life. This is a unique offering for breast cancer patients, survivors and guests. The program also includes the availability of Pink Hair for Hope extensions for a donation of $10; a light lunch and giveaways. The luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Baggot Street Café (cafeteria). LUNAFEST – Thursday, OCT. 11

American Cancer Society - Making Strides Against Breast Cancer – Saturday, OCT. 13

Reduced-Cost Mammograms – Monday, OCT. 15 through Friday, OCT. 19
Reduced cost mammograms available to women who lack health insurance and the financial resources to pay. The cost is $50, and free screenings may also be available through the Mercy Pink Ribbon Fund. To learn more and to make your appointment at Mercy Health Center, call 810-985-1455.
OctoberBreast – Thursday, OCT. 18
Join St. Joseph Mercy for OctoberBreast, a new twist on that traditional fall festival featuring healthy foods. This fun event will take place in the St. Joseph Mercy Baggot Street Café. During regular Café hours, the Baggot Street staff will be serving up nutritious foods and beverages with a breast cancer awareness theme.
Wear Pink to Work Day – Friday, OCT. 19
Wear Pink to Work Day is a quiet way you can show your support for breast cancer awareness. Join St. Joseph Mercy staff in a community-wide show of support by simply wearing something pink to work.
Newly Diagnosed Breast Cancer Seminar – Wednesday, OCT. 24
Newly Diagnosed Breast Cancer Seminar will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., in the First Floor Conference Room of St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. This monthly educational program will feature nutrition issues and is for women who have received a breast cancer diagnosis in the past three years. Call 810-985-1871 for details.
Studio 1219 Bra Finale – Saturday, OCT. 27
Studio 1219 will host its Art of Being a Woman Bra Finale where the most outstanding bra entry will be honored. Stop by beginning at 7 p.m. and cast your vote for Mercy Regional Cancer Center entries. A portion of the funds raised from this event go to benefit the Mercy Pink Ribbon Fund.
