VASKEN ARTINIAN, MD, NAMED ST. JOSEPH MERCY PATIENT-FOCUSED PHYSICIAN OF THE MONTH

Port Huron, MI…Vasken Artinian, MD, was named the December 2010 St. Joseph Mercy Patient-Focused Physician of the Month. The St. Joseph Mercy Patient-Focused Physician of the Month award highlights a physician’s commitment to working collaboratively to promote patient and community health through clinical excellence and patient-focused care. Physicians honored with this award must also be one whom St. Joseph Mercy Hospital staff and volunteers would recommend to family and friends in the community.

A pulmonary and critical care management specialist with Physician Healthcare Network, PC, Dr. Artinian specializes in the care and treatment of patients with respiratory disease, and those who have a critical care diagnosis. He was nominated for his willingness to share his expertise with clinical care providers on the subjects of making difficult ethical decisions in the treatment of patients, and the respectful and honest way in which he works with patients and their families.

“Joining with clinical care staff, Dr. Artinian recently presented on End of Life treatment decisions with a focus on the abilities and limitations of medical technology and the importance of honest dialogue between clinical providers and patients and their families,” comments his nominator. “He addresses these issues in a most respectful manner with patients. I have also witnessed evidence of Dr. Artinian’s respectful, compassionate and honest interactions with both patient and families who are grasping to meet critical health care needs. I feel most comfortable with Dr. Artinian’s medical skills as well as integrity in relation to meeting the needs of any of my family members.”

“Dr. Artinian is a terrific asset to our health care community,” states Peter Karadjoff, St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron (SJMPH) President and CEO. “His outstanding performance has been noted by those who work most closely with him and has been highlighted through his nomination. I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to Dr. Artinian for elevating the health status of our community and being a physician whom St. Joseph Mercy Hospital staff and volunteers would recommend to their family and friends.”

“I am greatly honored by this award and am really excited that I won it,” comments Vasken Artinian, MD. “I thank the staff at St. Joseph Mercy for trusting my professional qualities. Your support means a lot to me, and I’m very grateful.”
