FREE Monthly Senior Education Series Launched 01/05/2011 ST. JOSEPH MERCY HOSTS MONTHLY PROGRAM DESIGNED JUST FOR SENIORS
Port Huron, MI…It is expected that beginning this year there will be more adults over the age of 65 than children under the age of five. What does this mean? It means a monumental shift when determining the overall needs of the community. St. Joseph Mercy has made a clear commitment to redefining its provision of services to better reflect the unique requirements of our aging population and is developing a series of Healthy Aging seminars designed specifically with seniors, age 55 and older, in mind.
The free series begins as Caillie Stephenson, Speech Pathologist Mercy FITRAC presents, “Maintain your Brain,” an engaging program designed to help seniors learn entertaining ways to keep their brains active and alert. This Healthy Aging seminar will be held Wednesday, January 19, beginning at 2 p.m., in the Baggot Street Café (cafeteria), located within St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, 2601 Electric Avenue, Port Huron. The programs include refreshments and an opportunity to share social time.
Other seminars will follow each month with programs designed to help seniors keep moving; eat to live, not live to eat; and other engaging topics. Look for more on these programs as information becomes available.
