Month-Long Salute to Breast Cancer Awareness Planned at St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron 09/13/2010 Port Huron, MI… October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron and the Mercy Regional Cancer Center invites women to have a better understanding of breast cancer risk, screening and treatment. Studio 1219’s Art of Being a Woman 2010 Bra Art Contest Begins Friday, OCT. 1
Stop by Studio 1219 in Port Huron to vote for your favorite Bra Art entry from St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Donations are being accepted and all money raised goes to support local breast cancer programs, including the Mercy Pink Ribbon Fund. For more details, call 810-985-1871.
FREE Breast Cancer Survivor Luncheon – Saturday, OCT. 2
Join the Mercy Regional Cancer Center for its annual FREE Breast Cancer Survivor Luncheon. Enjoy an inspirational discussion, presented by Rebekah Smith, RN, Vice President of Outpatient services at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. This is a unique offering for breast cancer patients, survivors and guests. The program also includes a fashion show by Suzanne’s; music by the Seaway Sounds Sweet Adelines; a lite lunch; and informational booths and giveaways. The luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Baggot Street Café (cafeteria). Wear Pink to Work Day is a quiet way you can show your support for breast cancer awareness. Join St. Joseph Mercy staff in a community-wide show of support by simply wearing something pink to work.
Reduced-Cost and FREE Mammogram Availability – OCT. 18 - 22
For women who lack health insurance and the financial resources to pay for their care, the Mercy Women’s Health Center is offering access to reduced-cost mammograms. For only $50, area women can obtain this important screening utilizing highly advanced digital mammography. Free mammograms are also available through the Mercy Pink Ribbon Fund for those who qualify. Call 810-985-1455 for details and to make an appointment. Reduced cost mammograms will be available at the Mercy Health Center, in Fort Gratiot in Fort Gratiot Township.
