ST. JOSEPH MERCY OAKLAND TO SPONSOR AND PROVIDE HEALTH EDUCATION AND SCREENINGS AT FREE MUSIC EVENT
Family-Friendly Event to Be Held at Lafayette Grand in Downtown Pontiac
Pontiac, Mich. - St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (SJMO) will sponsor and provide health education and screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar at the Christian Artists and Musicians Project (CAMP) free, family-friendly concert from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11 on the grounds of the Lafayette Grande, 1 Lafayette, Downtown Pontiac. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors.
The screenings are part of SJMO's Community Programs Department outreach effort to promote healthy living, screen for and prevent chronic disease and engage citizens to be active in their health care.
The CAMP showcases gifted independent artists and provides spiritual enrichment to the community through the arts. The program is hosted by The Bridge Church. Artists performing acoustic pop/R&B, jazz, gospel, hip hop, contemporary Christian/folk an blues/pop include: Rufus Harris, Paul Dozier, Aaron G., Sonnie Day, The Gideon Crew, Therese Maynard, Sarah Dalton and William Reynolds. The program also will include children's activities.
