Pontiac, Mich.—St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (SJMO) has named Pam Schlader RN, as the September 2010 recipient of the prestigious DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Schlader, who works in the SJMO Pediatrics Unit, was recognized for her clinical skills, compassionate care, exemplary service and extraordinary commitment to patient-centered care.
“Pam is an excellent nurse who always puts in 100 percent when caring for her patients,” said SJMO Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer Kathy Coburn. “She is an asset to the hospital and her colleagues. This acknowledgement is the perfect recognition for her continued commitment to excellence in patient care.”
This award is given monthly to outstanding nurses in more than 100 hospitals across the United States. Each award recipient receives a DAISY Award signature lapel pin, a certificate of recognition and a hand-carved stone sculpture entitled, “A Healer’s Touch.”
The DAISY Award is a program of the DAISY Foundation. DAISY is an acronym that stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The DAISY Foundation was established in 2000 by the Barnes family in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura at age 33. The DAISY Foundation funds research to help fight diseases of the immune system and supports patients and their families.
Schlader has been an associate at SJMO since 2006 and resides in Oxford, Mich.
