Title
Let's Talk...About Feet, Circulation & How They Affect Your Heart
Start Date
09/22/2011
Article

On Thursday, October 6, at 6 p.m., Cardiologist Delair Gardi, MD, and Podiatrist Peter Galea, DPM, will be speaking at a seminar called “Feet, Circulation & How They Affect Your Heart.” The seminar will be held at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in the Marian Professional Building, Classrooms 1 and 2.

St. Mary Mercy physicians Dr. Gardi, a board-certified cardiologist, interventional cardiologist and Medical Director of Endovascular Services, and Dr. Galea, a board-certified podiatrist, will discuss your personal risk factors associated with P.A.D., the latest non-invasive procedures, how to recognize the value of early intervention for you and your loved ones, and the steps you can take to reduce complications from P.A.D.

If your feet hurt and are limited in your activities because of it, or if there are cuts on your feet that don’t seem to be healing you may have P.A.D. More than 12 million people in the U.S. have P.A.D., yet only 20 percent are diagnosed. Creating awareness and diagnosing P.A.D. is important because it can lead to larger circulatory issues such as heart attack, stroke or even blindness. Risk of P.A.D. increases in individuals who are over 50 years old, obese, or who have a family history of vascular disease, heart attack, or stroke.

The “Let’s Talk” presentation is free, but registration is required. To register, or for more information, please call the St. Mary Mercy Community Outreach Department at 734-655-8940. To register online, visit stmarymercy.org and click on “Classes and Events.”
