St. Joseph Mercy Livingston set to host 29th annual fundraiser
Hospital aims to raise $100,000 to promote breast health in Livingston County

HOWELL, Mich. – On Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 the Livingston community will gather together at the 29th annual St. Joseph Mercy Livingston Ball – the Roaring 20s to benefit St. Joe’s Breast Health Services in Livingston County to help prevent and fight breast cancer.

“We want to have the resources to help women through the entire continuum of breast care from mammograms and other imaging to biopsies through the possibility of surgery, chemotherapy or radiation therapy,” said Tari Stull, MD, medical director of the Breast Health Program and Comprehensive Breast Center at Saint Joseph Mercy Health System. “The generosity of the supporters of the Livingston Ball will strengthen breast care in Livingston County and make it possible to deliver outstanding care closer to home.”

With the funds raised, St. Joe’s Breast Health Services will establish a high- risk clinic, provide genetic counseling and risk assessment, provide supportive care to avoid complications after breast cancer treatment otherwise not covered by insurance such as therapy, and provide financial support to breast cancer patients facing economic difficulties.

Thanks to the generous support of the St. Joseph Mercy Livingston Ball committee, led by co-chairs, Renee and Tony DeKroub, St. Joseph Mercy Livingston seeks to raise $100,000 for this cause. Over the past 28 years, this event has raised nearly $1.2 million for the hospital and its programs.

St. Joseph Mercy Livingston’s Ball is slated for Saturday, Sept. 28 at The Johnson Center at Cleary University, located at 3750 Cleary Drive in Howell. The cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m., dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. and dancing will follow. The Royce and Jenn Band will provide the evening’s entertainment.

Sponsorships are still available, ranging from patron tickets for $150 per person to presenting sponsorships for $10,000. Presenting sponsors for the event are Louis P. Ferris, Jr., chairman, Great Lakes Central Railroad, and Tanger Outlets Howell.
