The Department of Radiology has actively participated in and initiated several unique research studies. The most recent research activities include:
- A single center, multi-disciplinary, prospective randomized trial comparing carotid stents with an embolic protection device to carotid endarterectomy using diffusion-weighted MRI and neurologic assesment
- The BRAVO clinical trial - a multi-center prospective randomized trial to evaluate the use of beta radiation for the prevention of dialysis graft restenosis after angioplasty
- Fibroid Embolization Outcomes Registry - a multi-center international registry directed by Duke University to assess outcomes after uterine artery embolization for the treatment of fibroids
- Prospective Trial of Graves’ Eye Disease - to assess the development of eye disease after radioiodine therapy, done in conjunction with Nuclear Medicine and Ophthalmology Departments at other institutions.
We look forward to the years ahead and future innovative and multidisciplinary collaborations.
