TedTed – Lung Cancer

It was an ordinary day for Ted and JoAnn. They were enjoying hot dogs while waiting for a prescription when something went wrong.

JoAnn knew Ted was ill, she knew her husband so well after 48 years of marriage. “Ted’s had his share of accidents and illnesses over the years, but what gets us through every time is his humor and hopeful outlook,” JoAnn said. Ted wanted to wait to see if he felt better, but JoAnn convinced him to go to the emergency room.

Terry – Prostate Cancer

TerryTerry, a 60-year-old man from Milan, Mich., went to his family physician for a routine physical in September 2007. Test results showed that Terry had an elevated Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) level. After an ultrasound and needle biopsy results confirmed the diagnosis of prostate cancer, Terry’s physician referred him to a Urologist.

He and his Urologist discussed several treatment options, including hormone therapy, radiation therapy, different types of surgery, and CyberKnife. Terry needed to think about all of the options.

Jim – Prostate Cancer

JimAfter visiting his family physician for routine blood work in June 2007, Jim a 61-year-old Flat Rock, Mich. resident learned that his PSA level was elevated. His physician referred him to a urologist for further testing, and Jim was diagnosed with prostate cancer. A short time later, Jim was scheduled for Radiation Seed Therapy at a local area hospital.

A few days later, Jim’s pastor mentioned that he had heard about CyberKnife, and suggested it was something Jim may want to check out. Jim then heard about it on the radio, and was driving by St. Joseph Mercy Hospital one day when he decided to stop in to learn more about this new technology.
