What we do
Physical Therapists at Chelsea Community Hospital will help you manage lymphedema or assist you with recovery from cancer treatment. Individual sessions with a physical therapist will provide you with:
Lymphedema Program
- Manual lymphatic drainage
- Compression bandaging
- Education in self-care techniques (self-massage and bandaging)
- Education on appropriate skin care
- Exercise instruction
- Recommendations for appropriate compression stockings or sleeves
Cancer Care Program
- Comprehensive evaluation
- Manual therapy treatments
- Exercise instruction
- Aquatic therapy
- Activity recommendations
Who is eligible?
To receive treatment, you must first be evaluated and diagnosed by your physician. You will need a prescription from your physician for a physical therapist to evaluate and customize a treatment plan specifically for you.
