What We Do
When you or a loved one is hospitalized at Chelsea Community Hospital for a medical condition, your doctor may order one or more inpatient therapies to assist in your recovery.
Physical therapy deals with mobility issues, such as getting in and out of bed or a chair, walking, going up and down stairs, getting into a car, and strengthening the muscles used in all these activities. Endurance is also addressed by physical therapy.
Occupational therapy deals with activities of daily living, such as using a toilet or bedside commode, bathing and dressing oneself, and cooking and housekeeping. Strength and coordination of the arms and hands and vision problems that may impact self-care are also addressed by occupational therapy.
Speech Therapy
Speech and language pathology deals with issues of swallowing (see also swallowing, difficulty speaking, and memory problem). Learn More About Our Swallowing Evaluation and Therapy
Recreational Therapy
Recreational therapy deals with issues of leisure, and offers a program of therapy pet visits for people in the hospital. Learn More About Our Recreational Therapy
